Assos ll.Fugu S5 Bib Tights: The ll.fugu represents the ultimate development stage of the S5 generation of Assos tights. They are the most complex, technically advanced winter tights in the range, engineered for freezing riding conditions. Engineering The ll.fugu is built following the Assos body area mapping theory. The garment is designed to adhere to your body in the cycling position, taking into account wind exposure, leg rotation, protection and cycling physiology. The genius of ll.fugu lies in the upper body construction; Assos have integrated a layer of body insulation in an anatomic cut, meaning you need only wear a baselayer underneath. Combined with the Fugu jacket, it is the lowest bulk and lightest clothing solution for extreme cold riding conditions. Construction The ll.fugu is built out of 20 panels using 9 different textiles and 15 components, all carefully engineered and applied. The front leg and side panels are made of anatomically preshaped Stratagon Medium windproof fabric with a layer of additional base-layer insulation fabric underneath. The crotch panels feature RXplus fabric, this provides maximum thermal insulation while allowing increased freedom of movement. The upper body has been designed to encapsulate the torso, providing an extra layer of insulation between your base-layer and jacket. Assos Ergonomic Pattern Design (AEPD) The ll.fugu is tailored to fit in the cycling position, you can feel it click into place when you tuck down where it will follow your bodies movements without restriction. The most difficult aspect of designing a performance cycling tight is the knee zone, when applying a membrane textile to this crucial area, the task of providing effective wind blocking while allowing complete freedom of movement becomes extremely challenging. The result achieved by the ll.fugu is, like all other Assos winter tights, astonishing. Its high performance and total comfort is reached by the sum of its parts, not by one single element. Fit It is essential that you choose your perfect size, the ll.fugu will only function properly when it closely conforms to the body in the tuck position. When you stand upright, the bibs may pull and feel wrong but this is correct; bend forward and assume the cycling position and the garment with fall into place, relieving the pressure on your shoulders. Textile ll.fugu is constructed from a matrix of nine different textiles, each anatomically patterned and strategically placed. The key protection area is the front of the leg. Rather than using a heavy laminated fabric with reduced elasticity, Assos have introduced Twin Deck Technology; the outer material is the new Stratagon Medium air block fabric. Inside is a second, free moving layer of interactive base layer insulation fabric. This combination provides total wearing comfort, maximum freedom of movement and an excellent wind and cold protection barrier for the critical body function areas.
