Crank Brothers Iodine C Directset: The same team that brought you the eggbeater sl have turned their attention to headsets. The Crank Brothers Iodine C Directset omits the standard headset cup and replaces it with flanges incorporated directly onto the bearing itself. This lowers the stack-height of the Iodine C Directset to an industry best 21mm, perfect for today's long travel all mountain bikes. The Iodine C Directset's outer races are formed from 52100 bearing steel with a black finish. Its good looks cover some thorough engineering though. It features custom made 28 ball sealed retainer bearings on top and 34 ball max bearings on the bottom. This combination saves weight where you can (the top race takes less punishment), but makes it tough where you need it, with a full complement of bearings for the bottom race. This attention to detail means Crank Brothers can offer a great 5 year warranty on the bearings. Weight - 65.5g Size - 1 1/8in.
